Public Policy Poll: Brown Over Coakley By 5

Public Policy Polling’s (remember, this is a Democratic firm) final poll on the Massachusetts Senate election shows Republican Scott Brown leading Democrat Martha Coakley 51% to 46%.

Looking at some of the details:

  • Coakley now has a -7 favorable rating, while Brown has a +19 favorable rating.
  • Coakley’s 44% favorable rating is exactly tied with Obama’s 44% approval rating.
  • PPP asked if voters “support or oppose President Obama’s health care plan,” and the results were 48% opposed and 40% in favor.
  • Brown is up 64-32 with independents and is winning 20% of the vote from people who supported Barack Obama in 2008 while Coakley is getting just 4% of the McCain vote.

That this is happening in Massachusetts should be sending shock waves to the White House. Even if Scott Brown just finishes close, much more so if he wins, the Obama agenda becomes poison to every Democrat in Congress.
