Obamacare means rationing our healthcare

Regardless of how they try to spin it or disguise it, health care reform is all about rationing care in the end. It’s the only way the government will be able to afford to takeover our health care as they intend. Clearly, undoubtedly, and indisputably, Obama Will Ration Health Care.

As Dan Riehl so aptly notes, Barack Obama (as are most of the Democrats in Congress) is indeed a “freaking socialist.” And there’s absolutely nothing “American” about him.

And by the way, in regard to the liberal comeback against the “Obamacare is rationing” accusation - that “We are already rationed by private insurers…,” don’t buy the sham - there’s simply no equal comparison between the two. As Mo, a commenter at Dan Riehl’s site, points out, there is a world of difference between the ‘rationing” of private insurers and the rationing we would have under a government health care plan?

A government health plan would drive out private insurers, which could not compete on cost with the mandates placed on them by government regulations, and with the unlimited power of taxation at the government’s disposal. Even with the flaws of the current employer-based health insurance system, there are a variety of insurance plans to choose from, if payment is denied, the insured can challenge the decision; and one is always free to pay for whatever their insurance doesn’t cover. What recourse will we have when the government is the sole “decider” of what health care we receive?

The rationing of the Canadian government health care system is far more draconian than the “rationing” of our current system. It would be unsustainable were it not for the “escape valve” provided by American health services available just across their border. Where will we (and they) go when our care is rationed by government? We need more and better private insurance options that are not tied to employment.

So don’t fall for the liberal argument to support the rationed care of a government healthcare system.
